Dominating Esports: Young Entrepreneurs’ Rise
Approximately six months ago, the paths of Jelte Leppens and mine crossed during the official training day of the Rocket League esports team of Breda Guardians. This marked the beginning of a passionate journey into the world of esports.
In the past months, Guardians Tournaments has proven itself as a central hub for esports associations in the #Benelux region. In a time when many clubs were isolated, and silent seasons filled a void, our #Discordcommunity served as a hub where players come together and share their passion.
Last Saturday, we had the opportunity, thanks to Ruben Been, to be present at GameForce Netherlands, not only as mCon esports supporters but also to take a closer look at the industry itself and speak with individuals who have achieved what we, as young esports enthusiasts, could only dream of. Entering the world of esports as young entrepreneurs is no easy task. Events, tournaments, and communities have been formed in this space for many years. But what sets us apart? What do we believe we can contribute?
For many, the transition from gamer to esports player is a significant leap. The fear of trying and the threshold to take the first step can be daunting. But what if we could lower those barriers? What if, just like Slack or WhatsApp, we enable gamers to stay on their own platform, such as Discord, and effortlessly participate in one of those exciting tournaments?

Logging in and verifying occurs during the general access to Discord itself, while Guardians Tournaments takes care of the rest thanks to custom code and many hours of hard work. This is what we, as young entrepreneurs, have observed and improved in the esports world.
In the upcoming period, we hope to meet even more enthusiastic gamers, both those we’ve encountered at GameForce and others who will be joining our growing Discord community in the coming times. We are working hard to welcome new faces and engage our members. We take pride in the strides we have made in the esports world, and we have no plans to depart quickly.
